Jewelry- Pearl Necklaces & Earring

Wire Wrapped Pearl EarringWire Wrapped Pearl NecklacesWire Wrapped Pearl NecklacesBeen a while since I made something with pearl. Today I made two pearl necklaces and a pair of matching earring. One of the necklace is stringed while the other one is wire wrap. These are gifts to my second sister in-law who will soon be flying back to NZ. Here are information on pearl on how to take care of them:
  • Pearl's value and cost are judged by its color. Natural color pearl fetch higher price than dyed pearl.
  • Try not to wear them in water especially chlorinated water as chlorine will damage the pearls.
  • Do not wear your pearls while swimming in the sea as residues from the water will ruin your pearls.

  2. If a younger woman wears bigger or wider pearl necklace it may look too showy. Older women will want a Perl necklace with a longer chain to draw attention away from the neckline area. 18 to 24 inches is a good general necklace size line. Pendants should be no more than two or more inches.

Basic pearl necklace buying rules are, collar necklaces are 10 to 13 inches in length and good for casual wear. The 14 to 16 inch choker is a classic Pearl necklace length also good for casual wear or even dressy attire. The 18 to 20 inches Pearl necklace is used as a chain for attendant or Perl and enhancer.
It’s a good idea to base your pearl necklace choice of color on your skin tone. Basically pink pearls look best on wider or fair skin tones, while yellow or golden pearl look best on darker skin tones. The pearl necklace is strung together in many different ways. Usually this center purl is the biggest and the remaining are tapering down in size.
But usually white cream or pink pearls look good on anyone. Younger women should wear smaller pearls and older women needing to draw attention away from their neck lines need larger pearls. A collar type perl necklace is typically 10 to 13 inches long. A choker is 16 to 18 inches long. A princess is 17 to 20 inches long and this is usually the most popular length which is classic enough to match any outfit or neckline. The matinee is 20 to 24 inches long and well work very well with dresses and business suits.
